Milwaukee Youth Theatre
About Us

A teacher, Peter Daniels, founded
Milwaukee Youth Theatre in 1991.
The company started in a small storefront
in Bay View.  In February of 1992, the
company became incorporated and
attained non-profit status.  Performances
were done both in our own space and next
door in the Avalon Theater.  In 1996 Mr.
Daniels moved out of the city and Therese
Burazin took over as Executive Director.
Milwaukee Youth Theatre has since moved
into Lincoln Center of the Arts to be a
part of their resident artist program.

The Milwaukee Youth Theatre prides itself
on being most children’s first chance to
be on stage.  We involve children in all
aspects of our performances such as
playwriting, lighting, sound and stage-
managing.  MYT is truly “Theater for
children, by children”.

The Milwaukee Youth Theatre encourages
all students to get involved!  Students are
invited to come to open auditions that
are held about 8 weeks before every
performance.  Auditions are advertised in
newspapers and press releases.  Students
are encouraged to take an active part in
all aspects including acting, scenic
design, costumes, lighting and stage
managing.

If you are interested in getting involved in
the Milwaukee Youth Theatre you can
contact the company by phone or email.
If you leave your name and address with
us we will then put you on our mailing
list.

Students ages 14-18 are invited to take a
special part in the company by becoming
a student intern.  These interns work on
our productions and our summer theater
camps.  They gain an immeasurable
amount of experience.  Students who are
interested in internships must apply by
contacting Artistic Director Therese
Burazin.
